A GROUP

THROW
A LAME PARTY
FOR SAM SPALDING
AN ELABORATE PREMIERE
Step into the world of I Hope So!—a far-fetched story brought to life by a group of local friends.

The project began as an attempt to create a portrait of Sam Spalding—a talkative, lighthearted man who has delighted the Walkers for years. Over time, the project grew in scope, taking on the fictitious and musical scenery that accompanies much of Sam Walker’s work.

Beth Walker, a collaborator in all of Sam’s efforts, greatly expanded the project’s vision through her creations and direction. Her hand-sewn purple coneflowers became the central personality of the story.

The evening will feature a screening of the art film, live-scored by a quartet of musical friends. The viewing will be accompanied by an installation that offers a deeper look into the fanciful characters and the peculiar world of I Hope So!

Project support provided by the Visual Arts Fund, administered by Midway Contemporary Art with generous funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, New York.
